Eastern conference contender has had extended talks about Sean Monahan
The Calgary Flames have been put in a tight spot this off-season, between the Gaudreau fiasco, the recent Tkachuck trade rumours and their need to build on what was by all intents and purposes a pretty fantastic season last year all things considered.
One player that might be on his way out of a Flames uniform, is centre Sean Monahan, who has fallen off in recent seasons.
According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the New York Rangers and the Flames are discussing a trade centred around Monahan who has been having a rough go with the Flames in recent years.
Monahan has one year left on his deal and carries a cap hit of 6.375 million. In 68 games last season the 27-year-old had just 8 goals and 15 assists for 23 points and was a periodic healthy scratch at times for Darryl Sutter's group.
This could be good for Monahan in the long run, a change of scenery has proven to resurrect player's career and at 27 years old, he should still be in his prime.
The off-season is in full swing, with trade rumours swirling and free agency opening in 6 days, it certainly is a time to watch out for
