The Edmonton Oilers have two of the best players in the world at their disposal, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. They should be a legitimate Stanley Cup contender every year, but the same issues seem to plague this team over an over. They can't keep the puck out of their own net.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reports that Oiler's GM Ken Holland is working the phones currently to help with Edmonton's defensive deficiencies.

"Oilers GM Ken Holland wants to bolster his blueline, but is also looking for a second-line winger and a bottom-six forward to add to his roster." Pagnotta said.

"The Oilers have expressed legitimate interest in Montreal Canadiens defenceman Joel Edmundson, as multiple outlets have reported, as well as Arizona Coyotes star Jakob Chychrun and both Kevin Shattenkirk and John Klingberg of the Anaheim Ducks."

It feels like something is going to happen soon in Edmonton. With this year's trade deadline set for March 3rd, it would be wise of Holland to get his business done before, to beat the rush and possible bidding war on players.

But with so many teams still in the playoff race it will take a massive package to get a deal done. Especially when the Oilers are operating from a place of such weakness. But if the Oilers are looking for a single deal to fix their defense a move to add both Kevin Shattenkirk and John Klingberg will come at a blockbuster price.
