The Philadelphia Flyers have been busy so far this off-season. First, they hired John Tortorella as their new head coach, then their general manager Chuck Fletcher promised that they were in «win now mode» and do whatever necessary to ice a competitive team next season and now they're linked to one of most intriguing young forwards on the trade market.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers are actively and aggressively pursuing Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat. It appears that Philadelphia has made what is being called a «legitimate pitch» to try and pry DeBrincat away from the Blackhawks organization.

DeBrincat, 25, has been the subject of rumours for some time now and it appears Chicago is intent on shipping him out of town IF the return is to their liking. The problem is nobody knows what Chicago's price is for the high scoring, hard shooting forward.

DeBrincat is coming off a season in which he put up 41 goals and 37 assists for 78 points in all 82 games played. He's a great player, who will only develop and get better as he matures a little more, but is Chicago valuing him a little too highly?

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out for DeBrincat and the Hawks as the off-season unfolds.
