When you're a highly touted prospect out of junior, the expectation is that you eventually find your game in the National Hockey League, some players however just don't. As was the case for this former 10th overall pick.

Nick Ritchie has signed with Finnish team Oulun Karpat according to TSN's Chris Johnston in order to keep his career alive; take a look:

Nick Ritchie has signed with Oulun Kärpät in Finland. He attended #stlblues training camp on a PTO and was released before the season.

Ritchie, 27, was most recently in training camp with the St. Louis Blues on a Professional Tryout. Unfortunately for him, he was cut before the end of camp and didn't make the team, forcing him to move on from the NHL.

Ritchie played a total of 481 NHL games split between the Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames scoring 84 goals and adding 102 assists for a total of 186 points across parts of 8 seasons.

At such a young age, there's a chance he tries to come back, but with the way his NHL tenure ended, maybe playing overseas will help him turn into an offensive player.
