Frustrated John Klingberg hits linesman with the puck
The Dallas Stars visited the Anaheim Ducks last night and while most of the game was uneventful, there was a moment in the 3rd period that definitely stood out.
With the game tied at 1, the referees called Dallas' Alexander Radulov for an offensive zone tripping penalty against Simon Benoit. The penalty killed all momentum the Stars had built and it was definitely a source of frustration. That frustration boiled over for Stars defender John Klingberg.
After the whistle Klingberg angrily shot the puck down the ice out of frustration. The only problem? Klingberg didn't look where he was firing the puck and he struck the linesman in the knee.
The linesman was clearly in discomfort, but he did manage to stay in the game.
Klingberg was extremely apologetic and was not issued a penalty on the play. The Stars went on to win the game 3-2 in overtime.
