With the NHL beginning it's Global Series today, hosting a few games over the next week in Sweden, many fans were looking forward to seeing NHL games be played in the unique setting. However, many fans turned out to be unable to even watch the game.
For viewers in the outside of Ottawa, TSN blacked out their coverage of the first global series game between the Senators and Red Wings today. Prominent agent Allan Walsh stepped up to take a jab at the league for the oversight.
Walsh rightfully pointed out that in this particular situation, the blackout is nonsensical and contradictory. When trying to grow the game, its TV providers are restricting access to the fans.
Hopefully, some of the upcoming Global Series games will be broadcasted nationally, so more North American fans will be able to see their favourite teams in an overseas die-hard hockey country.
