Goalie scores awesome goal, and celebrates with incredible celebration
You can correct me if you feel this is inaccurate, but it appears that the 2022-2023 season across the globe is the «year of the goalie goal». It may be the most ominous play in hockey and it's as rare as the mythical creature, the unicorn, but when it happens oh boy do people get excited.
Earlier this season during a National Hockey League game Linus Ullmark scored for the Boston Bruins against the Vancouver Canucks and while the Canucks players were obviously upset, Ullmark and his teammates celebrated like no tomorrow.
This brings us to Friday night in the American Hockey League as the Manitoba Moose hosted the Chicago Wolves. With less than three and a half minutes to go down by two and on a powerplay, the Moose pulled their goalie to play two men up.
As the puck was dumped into the Wolves' zone, goalie Pyotr Kochetkov skated behind the net to prevent the dump in from rattling around the boards in the zone, and this is where things got interesting. Kochetkov riffled the puck the length of the ice towards the open cage, hitting the net as the clock hit 3:18.
Understandably, Kochetkov goes absolutely insane while celebrating his accomplishment. He is seen skating towards his teams' penalty box banging on the glass, turning around, and embracing the five teammates on the ice with him while falling into a pile near center ice, then skating to his bench in tremendous excitement high fiving each of his teammates down the line.
Meanwhile, the Wolves secured the victory 4-1 and sit at a record of 24-24-3, good for sixth place in the central division.
