The Carolina Hurricanes have shared sad news of Bob Brind'Amour, head coach Rod's father on Thursday. General manager Don Waddell issued the following statement on Friday.

«There isn't a person who met Bob who will ever forget him,»
said Waddell.
«Bob was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who lit up every room he entered with passion, humor and energy. He kept working as a pipe fitter in Campbell River well into Rod's NHL career and it's clear he passed that relentless work ethic down to his children.»

According to the Hurricanes' official website, Bob Brind'Amour passed away on Thursday in Campbell River, BC, surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, siblings Giles, Paul, Alice, Andre' and Francine, sons Stephen, Rod and Mich, and grandchildren Skyler, Briley, Reece, Brooks, John, Marc, Claire, Leila, Brayden and Nicklaus.

This awesome video from a couple seasons ago shows coach Brind'Amour calling his father after a Hurricanes' win to wish him a happy birthday. The whole roster joined in to sing for Bob.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Brind'Amour family and Hurricanes' organization.
