If Crosby scores 500 on Tuesday, it will carry a special significance

On Sunday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Penguins won their third in a row by defeating the hosting New Jersey Devils, 4-2.
Sidney Crosby notched a pair of assists on goals by line mates Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel, earning him his 409th career multi-point game, 11th best all-time according to NHL Public Relations.
While it's highly unlikely that any player will ever catch Wayne Gretzky on that list, if Crosby stays healthy and remains productive, it's feasible that he could surpass another former Penguin, Jaromir Jagr, for second most multi-point games in NHL history.
The next plateau for Crosby should happen this week, too, as he looks for his 500th career NHL goal. The Penguins play at home to Philadelphia on Tuesday and should Tuesday be the occasion of goal number 500, it makes for another interesting tie-in to The Great #68 as it's the occasion of his 50th birthday!
Crosby, even at 34 years old, is still one of the best players in the world. It would be pretty poetic if he can notch #500 on the same day that one of the most legendary players in franchise history turns 50.
