It is indeed a frustrating time for the New York Islanders and their fans. It was on full display last night following another brutal loss.
With the game tied 1-1 in the dying seconds of the third, the Nashville Predators' Alexandre Carrier scored the game-winning-goal to dash the Islanders hopes of at least getting the game into overtime. The team was clearly devastated, as seven seconds let no time to get back into the game. After the ensuing faceoff, the Predators scored again, this time on an empty net, with just a little over a second on the clock. Other than the five Islanders skaters on the ice at the time, as well as the goalie, every of Isles' members left the bench and headed back to the dressing room.
After allowing the game-winning goal in the dying seconds, aside from the 5 guys on the ice and the goalie the #Isles all went to the room before the final horn???

The Islanders sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 19-13-10, well below the .500 mark, and currently have 48 points just over the halfway mark of the season. It won't get any easier from here, and the team will need to press hard to have any hope of making into the postseason. This incident makes it look like they've pretty much given up. Not a good look for the team or their fans at all.
