Jack Eichel takes a puck to eye and leaves the game, but proves he's finally changed
With his team leading 2-1 at the start of the 3rd period, Jack Eichel headed to the net to help generate some offense. Unfortunately for Eichel, the shot from the blue line was off target and struck him directly in the face. As Eichel dumped his helmet he headed straight towards the Golden Knight's bench bleeding from his left eye.
Many thought that this injury would end Eichel's night like injuries had so many nights before. But after going to the locker room Eichel would return 14 minutes later after receiving some repairs. Not only would Eichel return to the bench, but he returned to the ice taking 2 additional shifts in the 3rd, where he'd generate some offense.
Eichel would go onto play two more shifts in overtime, but wouldn't take part in the shootout. The maturation in Eichel's game has been on full display this season in Vegas and it appears the Golden Knights may have finally unlocked the player the Buffalo Sabres thought they were drafting. So far this season Eichel has 11 goals and 15 assists in 24 games.
