Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final was hard to watch if you're a Tampa Bay Lightning fan. It was even tough to watch from a neutral fans perspective as arguably the best goaltender in the NHL, Andrei Vasilevskiy, had to endure 60 minutes of punishment as he let in a career high 7 goals. Many people from the outside looking in kept wondering why Jon Cooper hadn't pulled Vasilevskiy to try and preserve some confidence and energy in him.

He's the best goalie in the world. And we win together, we lose together. Even if I did, I don't think he would have come out. That's what a competitor he is. That's why he's the best.

During Sunday's media availability Jon Cooper was asked this very question. He gave an interesting answer that helps clear some things up.

Jon Cooper has been Andrei Vasilevskiy's coach the goaltender's entire NHL career so maybe Cooper knows best. Maybe if Vasilevskiy was pulled it would've done more harm than good. We won't know until game 3 Monday night how Vasilevskiy will bounce back.
