The Chicago Blackhawks and the Winnipeg Jets have officially completed a trade.

There's no denying that the Chicago Blackhawks and the Winnipeg Jets don't have the same aspirations this season.

The Jets are leading the Central Division, while the Hawks are in the last spot, with a 33-point difference.

With less than two months before the NHL trade deadline, it's clear that the Jets are poised to add talent to their roster, while the Blackhawks could be sellers.

In breaking news, the two teams have officially agreed on the terms of a trade.

Indeed, the Jets are sending Dmitry Kuzmin to Chicago in return for Isaak Philips.

Darren Dregger was among the first reporters to spread the news:

As you can see, this is quite a small trade, involving two players who haven't got a lot of NHL experience.

Dmitry Kuzmin, 21, has been playing in the AHL and the ECHL for the past two years. He was drafted 82nd overall by the Jets in 2021 but hasn't made his NHL debut yet.

As for Isaak Philips, the 23-year-old defenseman took part in 56 NHL games in his career, all played with the Chicago Blackhawks.

This season, the Hawks' 141st overall pick in 2020 played three games in the NHL, scoring one goal in that time.

By acquiring Phillips, the Jets put their hands on a player with a lot more size. Kuzmin is a 5-foot-10, 188 lb player, while Phillips is 6-foot-3 and weighs 203 lb.

If there's an injury in the Jets' defensive unit, the team will be able to rely on Phillips to fill in, a much better option than Kuzmin.

Phillips will also be a free agent at the end of the current season, while Kuzmin has another year on his contract.

It'll be interesting to see what both teams do now, as much bigger moves are expected from the two sides.
