About halfway through the first period, Sharks forward Luke Kunin hit Kings forward Rasmus Kupari from behind drawing a crowd as the kinds went after Kunin to stand up for their teammate, take a look:
Kunin extended his arms and hit Kupari directly in the numbers, he was assessed two minutes on the play for boarding minor on the play. Kupari was able to get his arms out in front of him to cushion the impact a little bit.
This is one of those plays to me where intent is clear, Kunin knew what he was doing, knew he had someone in a vulnerable position and still decided to go in for the hit anyway.
I know it was only a two minute minor on the play, but if the NHL is serious about removing predatory hits, they need to do something about all of them, not be selective. Otherwise, like we've already seen, this will continue to happen.
