Luke Schenn trade could be imminent
The Vancouver Canucks have started the fire sale, trading former captain Bo Horvat on the weekend. It appears this is just the start with more players expected to be moved out before the March 3rd Trade Deadline.
One member of the team that expects to be traded is veteran defenceman Luke Schenn. He is having another solid season for the lowly Canucks, scoring 2 goals and 14 points in 49 games. He is on pace to break his career high of 22 points (Twice during the 2010-2011 & 2011-2012) when he was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli wonders if a Schenn trade happens soon. The family is expecting a baby in the next few weeks and they would like to be in their new city while his wife is still able to fly.
Schenn is one of the most physical defenders in the league. Since the statistic began being tracked by the NHL, no defenseman has totaled more career hits than Schenn's 3,077. He is also earned the reputation around the league of being a great teammate.
The former two-time Stanley Cup champion would be a good fit on the bottom pair of most playoff teams. Hopefully general manager Patrick Allvin and company can find Schenn a new home before their new addition arrives.
