The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the market for a goaltender, that's no secret, with Jack Campbell almost certainly on his way out the door due to salary demands, they would need to find a cost effective replacement. Insert Marc-Andre Fleury.
Fleury, 37, heads into free agency seemingly with one more NHL deal in mind before he calls it a career. He's looking for a 2 year deal at around $4,700,000 per year.
Given Toronto General Manager Kyle Dubas tried to bring in Fleury at last years deadline, it's not unreasonable if he becomes a target for the Leafs if Campbell walks.
If the value is right, bringing Fleury to a contending team during the latter stages of his career to go on one or two more runs at a cup (depending on contract length) seems to make the most sense.
Fleury even at 37 can still put up respectable numbers at the NHL level. Last season in 56 games split between Chicago and Minnesota he went 28-23-5 with 4 shutouts, a .908 save percentage and a 2.90 goals against average.
I wouldn't be against seeing Fleury in the blue and white.
