We're nearing the end of another National Hockey League regular season, and as such, the rumours for next year have already started. Could Mark Scheifele be on his way out of Winnipeg in the off-season?

According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, if the New York Rangers lose Ryan Strome to free agency in the off-season, Scheifele could be Strome's replacement via trade.

There are a couple of things I find interesting here: 1) Scheifele, in most recent years, has become a point per game player in the league for the last 6 seasons; he's become a bonafide superstar, so what would the price be to pry him away from Winnipeg? Surely at least two firsts, a roster player and a blue-chip prospect? With the going rate for superstar adds at the deadline, I would bet the above would be the bare minimum acquisition cost in return for Scheifele.

Scheifele, 29, has 69 points in 66 games this season, including 29 goals and 40 assists. He has spent his entire 11 year NHL career with the Jets, scoring 576 points in 641 NHL contests thus far.
