Montreal Canadiens reportedly keeping signing quiet after fan backlash
The Montreal Canadiens have finally begun turning the corner and are beginning to look beyond their rebuild. After multiple years at the bottom of the standings, the Canadiens hired Kent Hughes to help change the culture in Montreal. Hughes set out to ensure that players in Montreal felt safe.
At June's NHL Draft the Canadiens selected David Reinbacher 5th overall, much to the disappointment to Canadiens fans. Since being drafted the Canadiens fans have flooded Reinbacher with hate and threats online.
Now it appears the Canadiens are working hard to protect Reinbacher. Multiple reports out of Montreal have stated that Canadiens have already signed Reinbacher to his NHL contract, but instead of announcing that deal the Habs appear to be keeping it under wraps.
La Poche Bleue has learned that David Reinbacher has already signed his entry contract with the Canadian. The team would announce it very soon. #Habs #Canadien #CH #GoHabsGo #Canadiens
With the way fans have reacted, this appears to be a smart choice by the Canadiens because fans still haven't got over the act their team passed on Matvei Michkov.
