NHL Department of Player Safety announces multi-game suspension for Jamie Benn
Less than 2 minutes into last night's game between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights, Stars' captain Jamie Benn was ejected. The ejection occurred after Benn intentionally stood over Mark Stone and delivered a cross check to his head. On the play Benn was given a 5 minute major and a game misconduct.
Benn denied there was any ill intent on his part. Claiming he simply fell with his stick landing on Stone.
Today the NHL Department of Player Safety announced they weren't buying Benn's excuse and issued the following suspension:
Dallas' Jamie Benn has been suspended for two games for Cross-checking against Vegas' Mark Stone.
Given the way the Stars have played it's likely Benn's suspension will roll over until next season if the Stars are unable to win Game 4.
