Welcome back Andrei Svechnikov, here's one of the worst calls you'll get in your NHL career.
NHL Officials are (rightfully) being called out on social media again tonight after a terrible call in the game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the San Jose Sharks. Svechnikov, who is playing in his first game this season after having ACL surgery back in March, hit Givani Smith with a check that was nowhere near questionable. It was called for interference, yet even slow motion shows no space between when the puck had left Smith's stick and when Svechnikov hit him.
X users are calling it embarrassing, and they're absolutely right.
Humans make mistakes, but the NHL's officiating is consistently awful. Something really needs to change.
