Moments ago, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun broke the news that Ottawa Senators forward Shane Pinto is being suspended by the league for gambling on sports.
Quickly after the reasoning of his suspension was revealed, the NHL delivered a harsh sentence - Pinto will be suspended for 41 games for betting on NHL games.
Pinto is currently an unsigned restricted free agent of the Senators, currently holding out for a bigger contract after having a successful year last season, scoring 20 goals and 35 points in 82 games. However now, it looks unlikely Pinto will play at all this season. For the 22 year old young player with promise, this is an extreme setback to his career.
