Kadri had quite the season last year, setting career high's in both assists (59) and points (87) while also adding 28 goals in 71 regular season games with the Colorado Avalanche last season. Kadri would then, of course, go on to hoist the Stanley Cup with the Avs as spring hockey came to a close just a few weeks ago.
Now, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Cup Champion Avs are still an option for Kadri as we enter day four of free agency, but there is also another serious suitor for Kadri's services in the New York Islanders.
It would seem the only hold-up on the Kadri signing is team's needing to make sure they have enough cap space to offer him the amount of money he wants and, quite frankly, has earned.
For now, it appears that the Kadri sweepstakes enter another day, but I can't imagine he stays a free agent much longer unless he chooses to, we'll see what day four off free agency holds.
Some questions have begun to arise wondering if Kadri has already signed a contract. Lou Lamoreillo and the Islanders are known for operating in secrecy. Last season Lamoreillo had signed Kyle Palmieri to a deal that wasn't unveiled until the start of training camp when the deal was logged. So many wonder, has Nazem Kadri done the same?
