New York Islanders name new head coach
The New York Islanders wasted no time in naming their new Head Coach. Less than a week after firing Barry Trotz, Lou Lamoreillo has chosen Lane Lambert as his new voice behind the bench. Lambert has been a trusted member of Barry Trotz staff for years and was expected to be one of the most popular choices for an NHL Head Coaching job this season.
The hiring of Lambert ends the speculation of Mike Babcock reuniting with Lamoreillo.
Jeff Marek of Sportsnet also mentioned the hiring of Lambert by the Islanders was a move designed to prevent Lambert for departing for the Detroit Red Wings.
