The New York Rangers are hosting the Los Angeles kings tonight and things appear to have gotten very testy early in the contest.
Late in the first period, Rangers defender K'Andre Miller did one of the most reprehensible things you can do to another player and New York will be down a defender for the rest of the game, take a look:
After a brief review, Miller was ejected for spitting in Drew Doughty's face, leaving an already short handed Rangers without one of their defenders.
Not only does there appear to be no reason to spit in Doughty's face here'd, but even if you have reason to be mad, you should never do anything like this. That is completely uncalled for.
For reference, back in 2019 Garnet Hathaway, then member of the Washington Capitals was suspended 3 games for a similar incident.
I hope the NHL and the Department of Player Safety actually follow suit like they did with Hathaway. The precedent has been set, it needs to be followed in this case
