Nicklas Backstrom giveaway night ends with fans littering the ice with toy apples
Nicklas Backstrom recently reached the 1,000 point plateau and to celebrate his success the Washington Capitals decided they'd giveaway "squishy apples" or stress balls to honour Backstrom's career ability to put up assists or "apples".
This seemed like an amazing idea to celebrate the man who is made a career out of being Alex Ovechkin's setup man. Fans were thrilled to get their hands on these commemorative souvenirs. That was until Backstrom scored a goal to put the Capitals in the lead.
It was then when chaos began to rain down and the crowd littered the ice with these "apples" to celebrate Backstrom's goal.
Despite the cleanup it took, this was an amazing scene to witness as fans celebrated the career Capital in a very unique way.
