Ovechkin's signs 1-day contract to play professional soccer and does exactly what you'd expect him to
On June 24th, 2022 Alexander Ovechkin, added another sport to his reputation as a soccer player now. The Washington Capitals forward signed with the Dynamo FC Moscow for a friendly match on Saturday against FC Amkal. Ovechkin wore the same number as his father, Mikhail #3 as opposed to his #8 on ice.
Ovechkin played for Dynamo Moscow on the ice in the KHL, whereas he's always been a fan of the Dynamo soccer and basketball teams.
His parents Mikhail and Tatyana met while playing opposite each other in their respective sports, Soccer for Mikhail and Basketball for Tatyana, so it is a matter of honor and respect that Ovechkin gets to don a Soccer jersey and play a match on the same team as his father did.
Given he and his parent's long association with Dynamo, Ovechkin considers it important to support the Dynamo club. «What is there to say? Dynamo is my blood. I have a lot to do with this club,» Ovechkin told Match.tv.
Since heading back to Moscow in May after the playoff exit, the Ovechkin's have attended two Dynamo FC matches already.
