Patrick Kane makes interesting comments about potentially playing with Auston Matthews
Patrick Kane is easily the top remaining free agent on the market. After undergoing offseason hip surgery to repair an injury that has plagued him for years, Kane is preparing to return to the ice healthy. This will be the first time in years that Kane will be 100% and could help the talented forward remind everyone just how dominate he can be.
Recently Kane sat down and conducted an in-depth interview about his future. During the interview Kane touched on a lot of topics, and most notably he revealed that his recovery was significantly ahead of schedule. Kane being healthy sooner than later could truly help him acclimate himself to a new team much sooner than previously expected.
During the interview Kane was also asked about playing with fellow countryman and good friend Auston Matthews, to which Kane gave the following answer:
We stay in touch throughout the season and got a lot of respect for him as a player, how good he is at scoring goals, his shot, just his overall game.
He's become one of the best players in the league, so would've been huge to have that type of player on the U.S. team and maybe get a chance to play with him as well. Hopefully, we can get a chance to play together in the future, another big tournament, and have that opportunity.
The comment has many Toronto based reporters linking Kane to the Leafs on a potential one year deal.
An unrestricted free agent who might have to take a one-year prove-that-im-healthy deal in January. Intriguing possibility for the #Leafs perhaps??? :)
The connection makes sense, on a one year prove it type deal, Kane could be exactly what the Leafs need. A proven winner, and go can add a shooting threat to their top six.
Only time will tell where Kane opts to play, but if his good friend Auston can put any pressure on management there could be a very good fit for Kane in Toronto.
