Off to a rough start to the season, tensions on the Calgary Flames appear to be boiling over. Now tonight, with seconds remaining in a loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Rasmus Andersson made an incredibly dirty hit out of clear frustration.
Down 3-1 and with the Blue Jackets clearing the zone as the last seconds in the game wore on, Andersson jumped into Blue Jackets star Patrik Laine for one of the dirtiest hits of the season so far.
With the context of the game situation alone, this hit could be considered predatory. Not only that though, Andersson leaps from his feet to drive his shoulder directly into the head of Laine.
Laine remained down on the ice for a few moments before heading off the ice to end his night. Hopefully, Laine remains healthy, and the NHL's Department of Player Safety takes a look at this, and suspend Anderson for his awful hit.
