Patrik Laine finally gets PAID, signs massive extension
There had been thoughts that Patrik Laine wouldn't be a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets for much longer. Many thought he'd even consider signing his qualify offer and walking himself to unrestricted free agency. But that's not the case.
Today the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that Patrik Laine had officially signed a 4-year contract with an annual cap hit of $8,700,000.
Last season Laine took a huge step in his development and for the first time in his career he posted more assists than goals. This showed growth in his game, as Laine was always a shoot first option. With the addition of Johnny Gaudreau to the Blue Jackets, it wouldn't be surprising to see Laine score 40+ goals.
