Pittsburgh Penguins announce a trade
The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently in a playoff battlle, clinging to the final Wild Card position in the East with a one point lead on the Florida Panthers with a game in hand.
Pittsburgh general manager Ron Hextall was able to make the rare post deadline trade with the Anaheim Ducks. The Penguins have acquired defenseman Thimo Nickl in exchange for Judd Caulfield.
Nickl, is a 21 year old defecnceman who has played the 2022-23 season with AIK of HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest professional league in Sweden. In 47 games he has scored 8 assists. Originally selected in the fourth round, 104th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Caulfield, is a 22 year old winger who has just wrapped up his fourth season with the University of North Dakota. Drafted in the fifth round, 145th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.
