Another day and another NHL player finds themselves in hot water. Yesterday professional race car driver Zachary Claman DeMelo took to his Instagram page to bring to light an event he says occured over Grand Prix weekend. According to ZCD over that weekend he was assaulted by Detroit Red Wings player, Daniel Sprong.

During Grand Prix weekend I was assaulted at a night club by Detroit Red Wings NHL player @sprong11. He grabbed my neck and pinned me on a wall, we were separated during that scuffle. After when had believed the situation was over Daniel scame back and sucker punched me in the face while I was defenceless.. The photos in the slide before is the after math of the incident. The dental work needed was brutal and l'm still not finished. I also Sustained a concussion that I've been dealing with over the past few weeks.

l just wanted to bring attention to this situation as no one has the right to act this way especially an athlete of Daniel's
caliber. We must hold our self to the highest of standards and for him to do this is beyond disappointing. Due to legal reasons I can't say more at this time.

ZCD shared photos of the injuries he sustained on his page. At this time there is no word of a criminal investigation and Sprong has not commented on the situation.

Sprong signed with the Red Wings earlier this summer and has yet to play a game for the franchise.
