Robin Lehner is furious with the Golden Knights and is contemplating quitting on the team
There have been multiple disputed reports about Robin Lehner this season. Most of those reports have indicated that the netminder requires some sort of season ending surgery. Lehner has fired back at those reports multiple times this season, sharing he feels his medical information is private and is none of the media's business.
Well reports have once again surfaced about Lehner's potential injury, but this time it appears that information might be coming from Lehner himself. But the reason behind it is a peculiar one.
To say Robin Lehner has struggled would be an understatement, he's had a difficult finding his game and has been fighting the puck mightily. Last week Peter DeBoer started Lehner, who made 11 saves on 12 shots in the 1st period. A solid showing by almost anyone's standards.
But that's where things got strange, because DeBoer pulled his perfectly healthy goalie. Well according to Elliotte Friedman it sounds like Lehner took that pulling personally and is looking to take his ball and go home.
There was two reports that Robin Lehner is out for the rest of the year and having surgery. l've heard the same rumors. Vegas has disputed that, today they said they were hopeful he'd be in the lineup tomorrow night.
Nobody's talking but this is the best I can piece together: what's happened is Lehner, who's playing hurt, was upset at some of the criticism and also being pulled the other night, and I believe he informed the Golden Knights on Thursday night that he was gonna have surgery and shut it down. think in the last 24-48 hours everybody involved was trying to see if there was a solution to all this that would have him in the lineup. I guess we're gonna find out tomorrow night.
There is no disputing that Lehner requires the surgery, but it does appear at this juncture he's simply gone into business for himself. It's hard to believe that if this occurs that the Golden Knights will be jumping at the opportunity to bring Lehner back next season.
