Ross Johnston punches a downed Wayne Simmonds in the back of the head
Wayne Simmonds and Ross Johnston are two of the tougher players remaining in the NHL. Both players aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and that's exactly what they did tonight.
Early in the game trying to set the tone Johnston caught Mark Giordano with a big hit that rocked the veteran. Wayne Simmonds knows at this point in his career his main purpose is to keep the opposition honest, so he took matters into his own hands.
Unfortunately for Simmonds not only is Johnston bigger but he's stronger and made short work of the Leafs' forward.
At the end of the fight though with Simmonds down on one knee, Johnston threw one final shot that caught the back of Simmonds' head.
Simmonds was furious and continues their conversation all the way to the penalty box. Both men received fighting majors on the play, but this could be something to watch as the game continues.
