The Toronto Maple leafs are in action tonight against the New York Islanders. The Islanders a playing for their playoff lives, but it seems Toronto Maple Leafs have been dealt a huge blow today. According to Sheldon Keefe, the Maple Leafs will be without their best player, Auston Matthews.
Matthews apparently suffered an undisclosed injury during last night's 5-4 overtime win versus the Ottawa Senators. The good news is it doesn't sound like this undisclosed injury is serious.
The timing of Matthews' injury couldn't be worse, due to Matthews current pursuit of individual milestones. Matthews is currently sitting with a total of 58 goals this season and with several games remaining on the Leafs schedule it seemed like there was a very strong possibility he would hit 60 goals this season.
