San Jose Sharks make history with the reported hiring of their new General Manager
The San Jose Sharks missed the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year. This 3-year stretch actually marks the longest stretch in franchise history. In April, Doug Wilson announced he was leaving his role as General Manager, a role he'd held since May 2003. Wilson had been away from the club due to a medical issue and felt he'd be unable to continue in his role.
With the Wilson stepping down and no hope of making the playoffs in sight, it will as clear the Sharks needed to head in a new direction.
It sounds like the Sharks have found their new direct. According to Kevin Weekes it is expected that the Sharks will name Mike Grier their new General Manager. This will be a historic hire as described by Weekes.
