After a very entertaining 2022 NHL Draft, one that had more then it's share of surprises. The first surprise of the night came when Montreal Canadiens General Manager, Kent Hughes selected for with the 1st Overall Pick, instead of perceived favourite Shane Wright.
Wright became a huge topic all weekend not just because the fall to 4th overall to the Seattle Kraken. But because of what people are calling "The Stare" at the Montreal Canadiens draft table.
However, during Sportsnet Central, Shane Wright wanted to put an end to those rumors. Wright revealed there was no intent to stare down the Canadiens instead he shared he was simply looking at the cameras.
Not at all. I was just kind of looking at the cameras in front of me. To be honest, I don't really remember too much going up on stage. It was just kind of a whirlwind for me so. I wasn't intentionally trying to stare anyone down I guess maybe it looked like that from the video, but there was no intent to stare them down. Just kind of look at the camera and their table was right behind it so I guess it kind of looked like it but there's no intent behind that.
Whether or not you believe him, that's Wright's story and he's sticking to it. But his liking this post on Instagram makes it a bit tough to believe.
Mark December 6th on your calendars, because that's when Shane Wright and the Seattle Kraken travel to the Bell Centre.
