Surprising team emerges in Patrick Kane Sweepstakes
Patrick Kane is in the final year of his contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. After being drafted 1st overall by the Hawks in 2007, Kane has gone on to play 1,107 games for the franchise. Now it appears it's only a matter of time before Kane is moved from the only team he's ever known.
With teams like the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers viewed as the perceived favourites. There is at least one other team that is expected to be in the mix.
That team? The Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Jackets kick started their rebuild by adding Johnny Gaudreau this summer. Now it appears if the Jackets find themselves in the playoff race they could go big game hunting.
According to Nick Alberga a source told him that the Blue Jackets were a team to watch.
Just had someone who's in the know text me & tell me that Columbus is a legitimate team to watch here.
Like many other teams who would be in the mix, the Jackets would have to clear cap space to get this deal done. There is also a considerable lack of centers in Columbus, but the Jackets do have the assets to get a Kane deal done.
Until the moment Kane is traded expect their to be multiple rumors surrounding potential destinations.
