One of the more surprising series has been the Washington Capitals and the Florida Panthers. Going into Monday night the Capitals lead the series 2-1 over the President's Trophy winning Panthers. It has been the special teams and physical play for the Capitals that seems to be the difference so far.
During the third period of game four, the Panthers' Sam Bennett was carrying the puck in to the Capitals zone when he lost control. As he turned back to get it, T.J. Oshie came across the blue line and completely laid out Bennett. It looked like a high hit to the head but there was no call. The Capitals went the other way and immediately scored.
It looks like T.J. Oshie's shoulder caught Sam Bennett right in the head. Bennett immediately went to the bench as he was shaken up. We'll have to wait and see if the Department of Player Safety reviews this play but based on their track record and Bennett not needing a stretcher, I doubt Oshie will face any punishment.
