The Minnesota Wild Are Looking Add Another Forward Through Trades
The Minnesota Wild had a team that was built well, just not well enough for a deep run. After signing Marc-Andre Fleury and a plethora of depth forwards, such as Brandon Braddock, Steven Fogarty, Nic Petan, and defenseman Andre Sustr, it appears they aren't done yet.
Given that they're still pressed against the continued flat cap, Bill Guerin will have to get creative to add a quality forward to keep the Wild in contention. As of today, the available cap space for the team is $4,313,079 and as I said, these guys all seem like AHL signings.
This means, that if there is no answer by the time camp rolls around, it may end up being internal competition for that spot. Which bodes well for the prospect pool who has been ranked as #1 in the NHL currently. With the promotion of Matthew Boldy, Connor Dewar, and Brandon Duhaime, it'll be interesting to see who the next man up is.
Due to the buyouts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise the Wild are forced to operate under a very specific cap model. So almost every trade will require cap space to go out, just as much as comes in.
