Last season was Trevor Zegras' coming out party as he showed a new level of creative offence that has made him a fan favourite. He finished second in Calder Trophy voting last season. This season he is on the cover of EA Sports NHL 23. But he could be starting this season in the press box after taking a huge hit.

Wednesday night the Anaheim Ducks hosted the Arizona Coyotes in a preseason game. Midway through the second period Trevor Zegras picked up a loose puck and started to head up the ice. The Coyotes' Jan Jenik came across the ice and knocked over Zegras with a huge hit.

There was no penalty on the hit but Jenik did receive a fighting major as Adam Henrique came to Zegras' defence. Henrique was given the extra instigator penalty and a 10-minute misconduct. The game continued to get chippy as Jenik was challenged to fight again at the end of the second period.

This could be a big blow to the Anaheim Ducks if Zegras suffered a serious injury. The Ducks are hoping to improve on last season but losing their most dynamic forward would severely hurt their chances of winning.
