Hockey is one of the most dangerous sports on the planet, vulcanized rubber, fast paced hits and accidents are just some of the ways you can get hurt when you're playing, sometimes though you see an injury so improbable it makes you question what's possible.

Recently, in a preseason game between HC Bl Tygři Liberec and HC Ambr-Piotta, Liberec goaltender Daniel Kral got hit in the eye by a slap shot from the blueline, causing a serious injury; take a look:

See the video here

The shot hit Kral in the eye due to an opening in his mask. He was then removed from the game and concerned for his eye sight as anyone would be.

The 20-year-old says he was unable to get his bearings right away and thought he was hit in the face by a player. When he did eventually regain his surroundings, he realized he couldn't see.

There's no timetable for his return as this is an injury to his eye socket. This once again calls into question the need for cats eye goalie masks, although this injury was improbable, one could argue that it wouldn't of happened had he been wearing a different kind of mask
