Zdeno Chara has reportedly retired from the NHL
Zdeno Chara joined the New York Islanders last season with hopes of one last Stanley Cup run. Unfortunately for Chara that never came to fruition and the Islanders ultimately missed the playoffs completely. A disappointing ending for a player who hadn't missed the playoffs since 2016.
Chara, 45, has reportedly been mulling over retirement, but according to Steve Simmons Toronto Sun of the Chara has in fact played his final game.
The guessing around the NHL is that Zdeno Chara has played his last game. For those counting, that's 1,880 regular season and playoff games. A lifetime and then some for the future Hall of Famer
If Chara does retire he without question go down as one of the best defensive players of all-time. Chara's blistering slapshot could possibly go down as one of the hardest shots of all time. In his career Chara played 1680 career games scoring 680 career points.
