Anders Lee has been ejected for tonight's game after a dangerous hit on Nico Hischier
The game of hockey is dangerous in nature, the speed, the physicality, but steps have been taken to try and make the game safer, trying to eliminate headshots, suspensions and much more, but sometimes dangerous hits still happen.
Today, the New York Islanders and the New Jersey faced off and late in the game Anders Lee delivers a dangerous hit on Devils forward Nico Hischier; take a look.
Anders Lee has been ejected for this knee on Nico Hischier 😬
Lee was given a 5 minute major and a game misconduct on the play after this knee-on-knee hit. The Devils were quick to jump to Hischiers defence, but this is a hit that Lee can't make.
Lee extends his knee, knows he's going to catch Hischier in the neutral zone and does it anyway. This isn't a hockey play, this is intent to injure.
I'm glad the correct call was made on the play, but we'll have to see if the Department of Player Safety gives Lee a call in the morning as this should at least be looked at
