The Colorado Avalanche and the New Jersey Devils have placed two veteran players on the NHL waiver wire.

Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed in a post on X that the Avalanche placed Chris Wagner on waivers and the Devils did the same thing with Justin Dowling.

He added that Devin Shore, who was sent on waivers yesterday by the Minnesota Wild, wasn't claimed and joined the Iowa Wild.

Here's what he wrote:

Chris Wagner, 33, played 395 NHL games in his career, scoring 66 points, including 39 goals, since 2014.

Since being drafted 122nd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2010, the 6-foot forward played for the Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders, and Boston Bruins.

He had the best season of his career in 2018-19 with the Bruins when he scored 19 points, including 12 goals, in 76 games.

This year, he scored only one goal in 22 games with the Avs and has a -7 rating.

As for Dowling, the 34-year-old center scored three points this season, including two goals, in 21 games with the Devils.

He was never drafted by an NHL team, but still took part in 121 career games, scoring 22 points over seven seasons for the Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, and Devils.

It would be surprising to see any of them being claimed off waivers, but stay tuned for more as an update on their status will be made tomorrow.

The Devils will be on the ice again tonight in St. Louis to face the Blues. With a win, Sheldon Keefe's team could take the first rank in the Metropolitan Division.

Avalanche fans will need to wait until Thursday before the next game, following a tough 3-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks last night.
