The hockey world for many decades revolved around Don Cherry in Canada. His famous segment Coaches' Corner was seen all around the world by hockey fans. However, as his career continued he was surrounded in controversy leading him to step away from the spotlight.
Now a new report has come out that Don Cherry is returning to the National Hockey League world. This time he will modernize and host The Don Cherry Podcast. He made the announcement on X of his plans to return.
From his post on social media it seems like Don Cherry will focus on the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Montreal Canadiens . With the Maple Leafs terrible start to the season against the Montreal Canadiens one has to wonder if the Maple Leafs could be his first topic.
Now the only question is who will join him?
Of course, the name everyone is wondering if he will appear is Ron MacLean.
MacLean and Cherry were a dynamic duo for decades as part of Hockey Night in Canada. After remaining apart for years hope of the two reuniting came after MacLean attended Cherry's birthday party.
If Don Cherry is going to return he will have some apologizing to do to earn back the trust of the hockey community. After his controversy Don Cherry rightfully had his platform taken away. If he is going to earn and audience back apologizing for his mistake and moving forward with a new mindset is critical. If he does not he could be banished from the hockey world for good next time.
With the NHL season underway it will be interesting to see when Don Cherry officially debuts his new project.
