What a fantastic gesture by the Philadelphia Flyers and head coach John Tortorella! As the team hit the ice today for a practice at training camp, among them was a very special guest personally invited by Tortorella himself.
Guy Gaudreau, the father of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau who Philadelphia Flyers by head coach John Tortorella following the death of his sons' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>who were recently killed after being hit by a car while riding their bicycles, attended practice with the Philadelphia Flyers as a guest. Guy Gaudreau is a coach himself.
The Philadelphia Flyers roster was obviously very pleased to have Gaudreau there to train with them, and stick taps came from everyone after the session ended.
Asked why Guy Gaudreau was there, Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella, who attended the funerals of Johnny and Matthew, pointed to Gaudreau's background as a coach, and said he thought it would be therapeutic for him. Tortorella said he's hoping to have Gaudreau back at some point.
The man charged in the death of the brothers, Sean Higgins of New Jersey, allegedly had a blood/alcohol level of 0.087 percent at the time of the collision. That is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent for that part of the country. Higgins is being held in jail at least until his next court appearance, which is in October.
