Insider believes Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers negotiations will hit a snag
The Edmonton Oilers have been built around two key pieces for many, many years in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, they've been synonymous with the Oilers since they came into the league, could you imagine the team without one of them? I sure couldn't. Plus, given how well they've turned their season around, both should want to stay.
With that being, TSN' Darren Dreger does mention negotiations on Draisaitl's next contract might not go as smoothly as Oilers nation would hope. In fact, Dreger says talks could drag on'
Darren Dreger doesn't think Draisaitl will sign right away on July 1st in Edmonton.
«I think this could be fascinating to see how it plays out and drags on» 🤔 🤔
Draisaitl, 28 has played in 67 games for the Oilers this season and scored a total of 90 points including 35 goals and 55 assists. They can't afford not to re-sign him when he becomes eligible to sign an extension July 1st.
What you don't want to happen is for his value to go up even higher during the last year of his contract and to have negotiations go south even more.
We'll see what happens, but there is definitely cause for concern here.
