Lights go out in the middle of the play, causing delay
This can certainly be filed under the things you don't see everyday. Tonight during a game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning, the game was forced into a delay when the lights went out.
As the Philadelphia Flyers carried the puck down the ice and into the Tampa Bay zone, the lights in the building immediately dim. The referees are left with no choice but to immediately blow the play dead.
We got a power outage at Wells Fargo Center in the middle of play 😳
At the time of the outage the Flyers led the game 1-0. The game wasn't delayed for long and play eventually resumed. After one period the game remained 1-0 in favor of the hometown Flyers. Hopefully the lights stay in for the remainder of this game.
