Maple Leafs top prospect breaks one of the most coveted juniors records
For Naysayers of the Toronto Maple Leafs who feel that their most recent draft pick was selected too high, you might want to skip this story. For those who appreciate Major Junior Hockey and specifically the London Knights, then please keep reading.
Easton Cowan, the 18-year-old first-round pick whom the Buds selected 28th overall, now holds the distinct record for the longest point streak by a London Knights player in the internet era.
Now, this is a ridiculous stat to mention, at least to this writer who was born in the mid-80's, but for the younger generation, knowing how they get and retain information in the modern era, it is not a half-bad marketing ploy, if you can even call it that.
For Leafs fans alike, understanding that Cowan could very well become a stud on a team that hasn't won a cup since 1967 and keeps letting the fanbase down historically with first-round exits until recently, it's just another reminder that there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
Let's hope for Leafs fans sake Cowan turns out to be a good prospect, if not, every other fan base will never hear the end of it.
