New York Rangers Forward Will Cuylle Destroys Golden Knights Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo With A Massive Hit
Tonight New York Rangers Will Cuylle delivered a massive hit on Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.
The New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights took the ice tonight in a matchup that was not expected to bring a lot of drama.
However, so far that has not been the case as early in the game New York Rangers forward Will Cuylle was looking to set a tone and delivered a big hit to Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.
Cuylle seems to make head contact with Pietrangelo as he sends him flying down to the ice in such an aggressive collision.
Despite the big hit Pietrangelo stayed in the game for the Golden Knights and seemed to shake off the hit well.
As for Cuylle, he had to answer to Pietrangelo's teammates who came over to stand up for their star guy on the back end.
While Cuylle was not penalized on the play the aggressive and sizeable collision could catch the eye of the NHL going forward and result in a potential hearing by the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
If that happens Cuylle would open himself up to a potential fine or suspension from the league.
Ultimately it will be up to Gary Bettman and the NHL to make the judgement call whether this play is worthy of further discipline or not.
After the game, it will be interesting to hear from both sides and particularly from Pietrangelo to see if he felt this hit was dirty or if it was clean enough in his mind to not be an issue going forward.
